VSF Germany seeks to recruit a qualified and well experiencedSenior Accountant to support the implementation of projects in the region. This position is based in Nairobi - Kenya with frequent visits to other locations within the project locations in the region.VSF Germany is an international Non Governmental Organization, providing humanitarian aid and development assistance to pastoralists and vulnerable communities in areas where livestock is of importance. Key responsibilities:
- The incumbent will provide financial support to the Projects.
- Review of financial transaction bookings prior to posting into the computerized accounting system (NAVISION)
- Ensure that all expenses are adequately captured in the NAVISION financial system & perform detailed financial statement analyses
- Review vouchers and invoices in order to verify that the commitments are properly incurred; items claimed are in accordance with an agreement and actually delivered or performed before processing payments.
- Review expenditure reports from field offices for accuracy and completeness. Ensure that advances to field offices are liquidated and reconciled on time
- Supervise the management and handling of petty cash accounts, including field petty cash management.
- Review reports submitted by partner organisation’s for compliance with donor regulations, completeness and arithmetic accuracy
- Review monthly reconciliation of ledger accounts, creditor statements and bank accounts
- Inventory management in collaboration with Logistics Department
- Facilitate & participate in audit process.
- Consolidation of the financial data of the different projects and prepare project expenditure reports
- Monitor multi donor budgets and support Program Managers in amending project budgets.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting/finance option.
- CPA Section 4
- Qualified and Experienced User of Microsoft Navision software (Customizing experience an asset).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Finance work, International NGO experience highly desired.
- Good knowledge of Donor Funds Management and Reporting.
- Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office & IT proficient.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
